Laugh it up Mr. President

The President wanted the people to get involved in policy making and we did. He wanted the young people to take part in the process of democracy and we did. We got Mr. Obama elected. No one will argue me for that point.

So far, we’ve gotten bailout after bailout while the President tries to find people who actually have paid their taxes to fill his Cabinet, unemployment continues to rise (over 12% in my state), business’ continue to slash workers jobs, and they still just tell us to hold on. Help is coming.

Yet, when a practical solution to making some money comes along, they laugh at the idea.

I would like to say to Mr. Obama that as he laughs at "the stoner constituency", he also laughs at the people in jail for doing nothing more than smoking a plant, something the President himself did in college. He inhaled remember, that’s the point.

He also laughing at the thousands of people in Mexico that have died because our nation refuses to legalize the largest cash crop in the country. 75% of the drug cartels money comes from marijuana. Take that away from them, and they’ll lose 75% of their revenue.

He laughs at the people who have had their families split up for a plant. 80% of the people in jail for drug offenses are for possession, not sale or trafficking. 50% of the people in prisoner are there for drug-related offenses. The prison system is privatized by the way.

The amount of people in jail for drug charges are overwhemingly African-American or Latino. The current prohibition of marijuana was propagated by racists. When marijuana was demonized in the 20s and 30s by William Randolph Hearst and Harry J. Anslinger, they used racist rhetoric to do so.

Anslinger and Hearst made propaganda that said things like :
"Marijuana makes darkies think they’re as good as white men."

"The main reason for the prohibition of marijuana is it’s effects on the degenerate races."

Still laughing Mr. President? I hope not. If you are, maybe you should be in the Special Olympics.

  1. Great point of view. I really hope our "democracy" will realize who has the checks and balances. If our own president doesn't realize the real scrutiny that people who choose to smoke pot are under, then I do not know why we elected him at all. Change? No, that was just a ploy to rush the office and shut out everyone.

  2. Thanks for commenting!

I agree, I heard a DEA agent argue with Rob Kampia from the MPP and the DEA agent mentioned how if the people wanted to change the drug laws then we should vote on them like a democracy. I guarantee that if there was a vote on the next national ballot it would pass. The fed fails to mention how the lobbyists give all the CONgress people money so this doesn't happen.

People have forgotten that this is OUR government. It's time to take it back.
